The Church's initial support of displaced families includes, but is not limited to:
Food distributions
Support with reception centers at Caritas offices, train stations, and transit hubs.
Transportation services
Support with evacuation centers, which provide shelter, food and counseling services for displaced families.
Evacuation of vulnerable children from conflict areas to centers in safe zones.
CRS is sending staff and resources to support local Caritas partners in Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and Poland to address the growing needs. Together they are working around the clock to address operational challenges to these efforts: Key arteries between major cities in the east are blocked by military vehicles, hampering evacuation and the transport of goods. Cash is unavailable in areas where banking systems are not working. Many have lost access to supplies, food and fuel amid freezing temperatures. Vital infrastructures, including hospitals and airports, have been damaged or destroyed.
